Surprise Event Just Added!
Register at Bird Fest Central during Bird Fest weekend for a chance to win a spot on a USFS led field trip to monitor nesting Peregrine Falcons! This trip will be SUNDAY morning, May 17, and is for the conditioned hiker--expect 45 minutes of hiking up moderate to steep trail and scrambling up rock scree through tick-infested brush to the viewing site. Wear hiking boots, long pants/sleeves and bring DEET insect repellent. Binoculars and lightweight packable chair will be needed equipment for 2 hours of "sit and stare" at falcon nesting and hunting behavior. USFS wildlife biologist Janet Millard and crew are monitoring the rock climbing closure on these routes, and are inviting a few lucky visitors to join them. Drop your name in the jar at Bird Fest Central. The lucky winners will be chosen at Red Tail Canyon Farm, during the BBQ. Must be present to win!

What to bring: Expect sunny weather but be prepared for wind or spring showers. Wear good footwear and layered clothing and bring sunscreen, a hat, a rain jacket, water and snacks for all walks. Binoculars are a must! Cameras, plant and bird field guides are optional but recommended for your enjoyment. No pets please.
Most events have group size limits. Some should be registered for in advance, and some are available on a first-come first-served basis. You may sign up for the "first come" trips 1/2 hour before the scheduled departure. Bird Fest greeters will be happy to help you at Bird Fest Central Registration, in the Gazebo in downtown Leavenworth. If your desired trip is full, we will have information for self-guided tours at the registration booth, and we will have several "walk up" guided birding trips close to town. Some pre-registered trips may have space available on the day of the trip, even though shown as "full." Please inquire at Bird Fest Central at the gazebo in downtown Leavenworth to see if you can take the place of a "no show."
Check Bird Fest "At a Glance" to plan your day or to see what events are still open for registration.
